Horrible pain
What is this gut wrenching pain I have? It feels like a muscle spasm/charlie horse at my band and port site that is twisting and folding my parts . Sometimes it lasts up to 3minutes... and I'm talking excrutiating... like it's never going to end (sometimes only seconds) but the longer the spasm the longer it is "sore" afterward. Spasms that last seconds cause soreness for a day... longer... up to 3 days...

It sounds like the band is irritating your stomach at the very least.
The diaphragm is so near the top portion of the stomach... which is where the band is supposed to be placed.

The Vagus nerves run through here and branch out. If there is anything at all causing irritation to these nerves, you'll experience excruciating pain. Or maybe just a little pain, depending on how irritated they are.

Look how close the band and its tubing is to the diaphragm.

See how the Vagus nerve system runs throughout the body?

A foreign body near that nerve system is a recipe for disaster. I lived with it, so I know the pain you're talking about. Have you been checked by a medical professional lately? If not, I really think you need to get checked soon. It could be any number of things. You might have ulcers or gastritis. It could be that you're sensitive to the band and your stomach is reacting to it.
I wish you the best. I hope you can get some help.

Very informative! I've already been in a couple of times. I was pretty sure I wanted it out, but the doc wanted me to try it without the fluid first... now I just have the same thing in both places... instead of just on my port area. I've called today to set a new appointment to get it out. I hope that will remedy the problem... I'm worried it's some kind of permanent damage. It hurts so bad when it's constricting... and then sore.. and then nothing... confusing for sure.
thanks for your input!

EXCELLENT pictures showing the bands close proximity to the diaphragm & vagus nerve system.
I bookmarked it.

You should create a new thread with this picture and a list of possible symptoms/injuries this can cause so I can sticky it in the Failed Bands Group.

I had this exact pain one day last week. That charley horse feeling you were talking about, I explained it just like that. It tightened up the entire area below my breast bone. It was the only time it happened and it was sore afterwards but not for days, more like for an hour or two.
I hope you share with us what it is, or might be. I'm seeing my surgeon next week just for a check up and will talk to him about what I experienced.
Good luck!

I have an appointment Tuesday... this will just be the "I want it out" appointment... but if I get any answers I will certainly let you know!
